Sea turtles
The
sea turtle (or Chelonioidea) encompasses all the beauty that our
oceans have to offer us. They can be found through the world's oceans,
save for one; the Arctic Ocean. Whose waters are far too chilled
for this beautiful animal to thrive.
Unknown to many, while they spend most of their time deep under
the water; they still breath air. However, they may divert to anaerobic
respiration in dire circumstances. In other words; they can keep
a hold of each breath that fills their lungs; which have been adapted
for quick bursts of oxygen.
These long-lived turtles can live up to eighty years of age; however,
the one downside to this is that they take years to reach sexual
maturity.
Despite their beauty and grace, these animals are not recommended
as pets. They are wild and should remain so.
