Reeves turtle

The Reeves Turtle is a gorgeous turtle that is a semi-aquatic turtle which is found in places such as Mainland China and Japan. However, they can also be found in Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. In some instances, you can even find some Reeves Turtles in the United States; which are speculated to be pets that were released into the wild.
Reeves Turtles grows to a fairly small size of five to seven inches; the females being the larger of the sexes.  Unlike some turtles, the reeves turtle has three keels (or ridges) that run the length of their shell. Their coloration can vary from yellowish brown, a rich brown, to black. While their skin is olive, dusty green, to black; the lighter of these varieties have yellow or white lines that run along the sides of their neck and head.
These turtles are omnivores; eating things such as insects, fish, and plant matter. When keeping a captive reeves turtle, it is important for you to maintain a varied diet. Some of the items you will want to feed them are:

  • Raw liver
  • Chicken
  • Deep leafy greens
  • Fruit
  • Earthworms
  • Crickets
  • Feeder fish
  • Pinkie mice
  • Dandelions
  • Water weed
  • Specialized turtle pellets.
