Asian box turtle
The Asian box turtle is a wonderful pet. They originally come from
warmer climates such as Southeast Asia. This little turtle usually
ranges in size from five inches to eight inches. Generally, they
will require a tank that is a minimum of twenty gallons long or
bigger. Something that is fairly easy to find at a reptile or fish
supply store on or offline.
They are a beautiful turtle with attractive eye stripes and a yellow
stripe down their necks. Generally, they are extremely friendly
as far as turtles go and are less likely to bite unlike American
breeds; making them a great starter-turtle for younger children.
An Asian box turtle will need a warmer enclosure. Generally with
warm water and a heat-lamp that is heated up to eighty degrees.
Never ever put them in cold water! This could harm the turtle. Since
they normally get their vitamin D requirements from the sun; you
will need to feed them a vitamin D supplement along with vegetation,
fish, or pre-made water turtle food. Always feed them vitamin A
rich foods such as muskmelons, sweet potatoes, or corn. This will
help to prevent any possible health issues.
